Parrot S.A. the Voice Mate Handheld Digital Organizer announcing the availability of the new software
Version 3.4
The following list summarizes the changes implemented.
- In the Phone Book function, the volume DTMF is set to 2.
- In Memo function, the edit type is set to short.
- In the Clock function, the Date defaults to: 01/01/2001.
- In the Control Panel function, the volume is set to 2.
- In the Control Panel, the keyboard lock is set to on.
When changing the batteries, or doing a reset,or using Yes + No + 0, Voice Mate says "Version 3.4" and at the end of the subsequent memory scan, which takes a few seconds, it says, "Phone Book."
Voice Mate now awakens on the last function used. For example, if you stop using the Voice Mate on the phone book, memo, or the clock, and it goes to sleep, it will start up in any one of those functions the next time you use it.
Illustration. Tab over to the clock. Let the Voice Mate go to
sleep. Then, to check the time later, just click the side key
twice and the date and time announces automatically. If you
press the front panel
selector button, the rubber button to the
left of the microphone, before clicking the side key twice, it
will announce"clock."
To change a digit in a previously entered phone number, when "accessibility mode" is ON
If you are on the first digit, the number is erased totally by entering the complete new phone number again and pressing yes. For any other phone book entries, open the door, and using the right arrow key, select the desired entry, such as fax, cellphone and so on, and repeat the above process.
Press the side key and speak the name you wish to retrieve. The name is spoken and the principal phone number.
For example,
Voice Mate says "Christiane, 01 48 03 60 64." Press briefly on
the side key again one time and the Voice Mate announces the next
number and its identifier such as fax number, home number, and
other number. It will also play back the address field as you
have recorded it. This assumes you have entered phone numbers
for each of these categories and recorded something in the
address field of that entry. If you keep pressing the side key,
you eventually return to the primary number. This was
incorporated into the new software to keep you from having to
open the door just to retrieve other phone numbers under a single
person's name.
Note: To cycle through other names and phonebook entries, you will
still have to open the door and depress one of the arrow keys.
When making an appointment, Voice Mate confirms the date selected before the spoken message: "No appointment" for example.
Note. There are only two changes.
In 3.4, you could cycle through phone book entries by retrieving a person's name and then clicking the side key once to move to each individual entry under that person's name. The same feature is still available in 3.5 but with one difference. Now you can silence the speech as the phone number is spoken by just holding down the side key for a half a second. If you then wish to continue cycling through a person's phone book numbers, briefly pressing the side key once again will move to the next phone number.
The Calculator:
In version 3.4, when pressing the Menu Key in the calculator
mode, it would say, "Percent." Now, when pressing the Menu Key
in version 3.5, it says, "Convert from euro to currency." If you
use the arrow keys at this point, it will cycle through all
available calculator functions. For example, press the left
arrow key once and you will hear, "Percent."
Note. these are the only feature changes in version 3.5 of the voice Mate. Return to HOME
